Meet Michael Diaz-Griffith, he is the executive director of the Design Leadership Network and previously served as associate executive director of the Winter Show—America’s most prestigious and longest-running art and antiques fair— and executive director of Sir John Soane’s Museum Foundation. A collector himself, Michael also co-chairs the Winter Show’s Young Collectors Night and the Masterpiece Collectors Club for the art and design fair Masterpiece London. In 2020, he was named to House Beautiful’s list of “Visionaries” for his advocacy of historic art and preservation, and is a deep well of knowledge on art history, the antiques trade, fashion, and contemporary culture, which is evident through his thoughtful introduction and chapter texts.

This is a wonderful opportunity to meet Michael Diaz-Griffith as he will be discussing his book The New Antiquarians: At Home with Young Collectors, Thursday August 3rd at 11:30am.  Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the show.

Michael will be following his talk with a special book-signing for those in attendance. This is another must attend event!

From Phaidon and The Monacelli Press:

“An inspiring compendium of spirited interiors assembled around eclectic collections of objects brimming with life and history.

The once rarefied world of antiques is bursting open thanks to a new generation of collectors who are revitalizing the field. The New Antiquarians: At Home with Young Collectors presents seventeen homes that exemplify unorthodox approaches to looking at—and living with—the material culture of the past.  Spanning the spectrum from minimalist to maximalist, the featured homeowners reveal irreverent modes of collecting and decorating with vintage and historical objects that echo the way we consume visual material today: brazenly blending the old with the new, embracing anachronism and pastiche, deploying serious knowledge with wit and humor, and considering old things through the lens of
contemporary values.”
